Sloan is kidnapped by Declan, the head of the Irish mob, in retaliation for "starting" a war between Mafia families.

I love Sloan so much. She is strong, badass, and so funny. She is often brushed off as being a bimbo and dumb because of the way she looks, be she is incredibly smart. She is able to charm every person who walks into her life, including these rough Mafia men. She has a tough shell due to a traumatic childhood and "doesn't keep boyfriends" because of it. As she develops feelings for Declan, she really struggles to accept them.

Declan has a reputation for being cruel, yet he treats Sloan with respect and never hurts her, even when she is annoying him and charming his men. He completely falls under Sloan's spell and would do anything for her.

I love these two together. The banter between them is so funny and had me laughing so many times.  They have so much chemistry. There was an interesting twist with Declan, that I kind of saw coming, but made the book a bit more interesting.

I like that we get glimpses of Kage and Natalie within this book.

Tropes: Mafia, kidnapped FMC, protective alpha MMC, enemies to lovers, age gap, open door

The banter in this one was pretty good. Sloan was a smart ass but actually showed the wit to back it up; we aren’t just told that she’s sassy, we get to see plenty of it, and it’s quality writing.

After reading the first two in this series and the synopsis of the next book, I’m expecting every book to include kidnapping and lots of spanking. This one had too much “yes, sir” from Sloan, who in the audiobook just sounded sarcastic anyway.

TW/CW: brief mentions of
past rape, child abuse by fat shaming, self harm, suicidal thoughts, and death of parent by cancer.

The banter between Sloane and Declan is so goddamn funny. And of course the spice is everything. I loved the evolution of their story, and how they were each able to heal themselves and each other. Sloane is one of my alllllll time fav FMCs.

This book is really good. The second book of the series. Follow up about the story from Nat’s bsf, Sloane. She gets kidnapped by an ML, Declan, bcz of a death of a Irish mafia mob.
There were many times that I couldn’t stop smiling bcz Sloane is hilarious and her comebacks are spot one. She loves getting on Declan’s nerves ( but he does get turned on by it; but also think of her as a weird woman who doesn’t cry, scream or even scared of being kidnapped.)

I mean what could be more awful and annoying than a loud chatty, talk-back person and a strong headed woman.  A few minutes within her presence is all it takes for the most hazardous men to turn into her allies.
The consistent chat, smart talks, diverting and charming communication between Declan and Sloan, are the quintessence in this book. The erotic and sexual tension and intensity between them is dripping out of this book.

She's tough and nothing seem to faze her. Relatively few individuals would accept being grabbed, and that just disturbs Declan. In any case, he sees through her backtalk. This man was swooning internally.

You own me, sloane. Every corner of
my worthless black soul. Every piece
of my corrupt black heart. You own it
all, and you always will. I'm your slave,
not the other way around. Never
forget it."

But those feelings are strongly reciprocated:

“he kisses me, and in his lips I taste
forever.”

Their feelings, moments and especially the smut:🔥.

We also get to see a crossover of the characters from Ruthless Creatures : Kage and Nat.

This book does lead to a darker turn, especially when we see the childhood traumas both Solane and Declan had been through.

-

"Tell me what you're thinking, baby.
"I'm thinking we're a couple of lunatics."
That makes him chuckle. "Aye. But my
crazy matches your crazy. That's why
it works."

W: sc; dom/sub; kidnapping; violence; mentions of rape; attempts of suicide.

I think Sloane is going to make it into one of my favorite FMCs. She was so funny from the moment the book started to the very end. I loved how self assured she was, how positive she stayed, and her sass was next level - she literally had me laughing out loud. I loved her and Declan's banter and they had great chemistry. I really enjoyed how their relationship unfolded and developed - it felt so genuine and I loved how well Declan understood Sloane even when she didn't want him to.
Besides their relationship and romance, I also found myself pretty engaged in the plot. I had no idea where the story was gonna go and was pretty surprised at most of the turns.
My only real complaint is that epilogue wasn't what I typically expect from a romance book epilogue so I was disappointed but also a little intrigued since it hints at a future book and future conflicts.

🔥😅🔥😅🔥 this was such a good read and a step up from the first one!
First off, the banter between Declan and Sloane is *chefs kiss* and the way that they fight it so hard. I can’t get over the “you’re like cancer. But less fun” line😂

This series is honestly so much better than I was expecting. And while the first isn’t my favorite and it’s not necessary to read this one, it’s definitely best to start there to understand the back story that’s building throughout.

I love Sloane. I was laughing out loud at some parts of this. The middle was a little slow again and I wished we got more of Declan’s past. The author suggested switching over to the Beautifully Cruel series before continuing with this one, so that is my plan.
