“Idc if you’re sucking Hitler’s dick, you’re still my best friend.” out of all people… the guy that essentially caused the Holocaust… ?

This was so dumb. How do you manage to make the series worse as it goes on?? Nvm I take back what I said about Sloane in the last book. She’s so annoying and pissy it’s a wonder how Declan fell in love with her. I would’ve been shot her. Sloane’s personality was so bogus I couldn’t even suspend reality while reading. She would be dead in an actual mafia setting.

Read 70% and skimmed the rest

The best in this series so far. I loved the banter of Sloane and Nat in the first book and when it came to Sloane's story I was interested to see how it would pan out. I started out with the third book by chance so I have seen the best friend and the absent sister version of her. There is something about the way that Sloane and Declan interacted that had me laughing multiple times throughout the book. I think that this is the most mafia-esque as well because there is a lot more mafia-related things that bring it to the forefront.

Sloane is kidnapped by Declan because of a scene in the last book. Stavros and two Irishmen got into a shootout after one of the Irishmen slapped her butt which caused a war to start between the Irish and Russians. Sloane is literally the most chill captive in the world and literally talks people's ears off. Spider and Kieran, they work for Declan, are immediately charmed by Sloane's kindness and energy. Declan and Sloane end up falling into a gray area because Declan and Kage, Nat's boyfriend, are enemies and he wants to kill Kage. Sloane ends up in the hospital because her concussion goes unchecked and there is a pregnancy misunderstanding. Sloane sets Declan straight and almost ends up with Stavros but is then taken again by Declan after things are cleared up.

Declan ends up killing every head of the mafia except Kage to back him into a corner. In hiding, Declan and Sloane become closer. Sloane opens up to Declan about her past from being sent to fat camp, to being assaulted, getting pregnant, and then having a miscarriage. I think that part really solidified the trust between them because she opened up to him in a way that she hadn't with anyone else. Sloane ends up getting kidnapped and taken to a government holding and tested to be a potential spy because Declan is one. Sloane doesn't give up though and silently tells Declan what's up. A week passes with Sloane in Kage and Nat's care and things are taken care of. Sloane returns to Declan and they essentially live happily ever after for this book.

Overall a really good read! I enjoyed it. The banter really makes it and I laughed a bit. There are spicier scenes in this book and some BDSM.

Whew. This book was, wow.

So again, the plot twists and turns had me not exactly able to guess what was going to happen next! I mean some things wet obvious, like Declan and Sloane falling for each other. But I did not guess all of the background things we learned about them.

Declan is, ugh, he is perfection. The Irish thing obvious was super hot. But also his protectiveness and his dominant personality. Of course it would take someone like this to tame the wild Sloane.

I found sometimes the banter of Sloane to be a bit much. I get that's her personality and I love that she literally makes everyone love and follow her almost instantly. But just sometimes I'm like dear lord can we dial down the banter and sarcasm a little.

The spice went up about 5 notches in this book. We have a huge dominant/submissive trope, with some BDSM aspects like spanking, flogging, being tied up, orgasm denial, and period play. But it was hotttttt

I am still so curious how this series is gonna go. The Stavros thing is really like, what the hell. It was mentioned that you should read the other mafia duology she has written, so now I think I'll go back and read those before I continue on with this series so I don't miss anything. I wasn't aware the duology and this series were connected so kinda irritated I didn't start there first.

Okay! 4.3 ⭐️ I LOVEEEE Sloane! Declan only grew on me because he had so many good witty comebacks to Sloane’s jokes. Man I highlighted so much in this book and tabbed so much

So I liked this book but..

I will start out by saying Sloane is awesome I loved her wit and sarcasm. I just didn't get in to this story as much as the first. I guess I liked the action, mystery and spice in the first book. The first half of this book was Sloane being a sarcastic bitch (which was awesome and funny) but I just didn't feel the real connection between Declan and Sloane like I did with Kage and Nat. I didn't get fully invested in this book until close to the end. The narration for this book is amazing for those who like to listen and read (my audio review is in Audible)

I love this author so much. I love good banter in my novels, and Geissinger is the queen of banter. I very rarely laugh out loud while reading, but I did it so many times during this that I'm pretty sure my family thought I went off the deep end.

I loved Sloane in the first book & was so glad to get her story. I think we'd all like to be a little bit like Sloane. So confident. Capable of winning anyone to her side. The absolute queen of one liners. Declan is like all of Geissinger's men--a hot alpha male that does dirty very well & loves so big it's consuming. I don't know why we love the bad guys who turn into marshmallows for their women, but I for one am never going to be sick of it. It's a evolutionary trait that I'm not sad hasn't disappeared.

I can't wait to fan girl over the next installment tomorrow
