I believe that this book is filled with misinformation; at one point I remember that the author puts forward the idea that vaccines cause autism. She also mentions a theory about gluten negatively affecting those with autism. Although this could have some truth to it, I remember her presenting a gluten-free diet as if it was a magic cure-all to a neurodevelopment disability. As if.
But my biggest problem by far is that I struggled to find sympathy for the autistic man that the book focuses on. I'm not sure if it was on purpose, but I felt incredibly uncomfortable by this man constantly doing abusive things to the author and the way it is just waved away because of his "condition." I wont mince words; the author sounds like an absolute doormat. An awful book that gaslights victims of abuse and indeed was used to gaslight me by the person that "recommended" it to me.
