I didn't dislike nor like this book. I'm not going to give it a star rating because I think it's too reductive of how I feel about the book to use an 'enjoyment meter' to show my feelings towards it. It's an incredibly  bizarre book, and probably the most out of all the books I've ever read.

The events are incredibly gruesome and traumatic. There's
cannibalism, incest, and child sexual abuse.
It's all very graphic, and greatly disturbed me. The writing style is deceptive in a way with how simplistic it is, talking in an almost-childlike voice. The story explores child hood trauma and using imagination to escape being/feeling othered so extremely it really takes you for a rollercoaster. Each chapter is equally or somehow more disturbing than the last.

I connected to it? The way 'being an alien' is used as a trauma response is so overwhelming and horrific that it feels strange to say that I related to it, but I still did. I don't regret reading this despite how tragic and violent it all is. I sure won't ever read it again though.

I really enjoyed it. Dark, hilarious and sad in equal measure.
The ending is insane

Such a strange strange book. I can’t even begin to imagine what the authors mind is like. I previously read convenient store woman and there were some similarities. Overall, this covers serious and deep topics such as trauma and sexual assault in a very funny and kid/childish tone. This could almost be mistaken for YA but it’s simply not the case.
