Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin UK for the opportunity to read What Happens Now? by Sophia Money-Coutts in exchange for an honest review. I have given this book five out of five stars
Trigger Warnings: miscarriage, pregnancy, pregnancy complications, abortion, death
From the prologue I knew instantly I was going to adore this beauty of a rom-com. Sophia Money-Coutt’s writing immediately grabbed my attention; I started to snigger at the written humour and couldn’t wait to get into the story and find out what journey this novel was going to take me on. Sophia Money-Coutts, you’ve found yourself a new fan of your writing.
Lil is a brilliant character and I loved following her journey, I loved watching Lil learn and grow in this book; she was a very entertaining, relatable, brave and endearingly awkward. Max, our love interest, was a very charming and likeable man, although understandably, there were times where I started to question his motives when he ghosts Lil after their very intimate date. This book is made up of really great secondary characters as well; I absolutely adored Dennis, Jess and Clem. There’s a nice amount of development to the secondary characters so you’re able to tell them apart which I really appreciated.
About two thirds of the way through this book, I knew it was going to be a high rated book so I just had to buy a paperback version (which you can see in my photo above!). I would love to see this book turn into a movie adaptation, I think it would have a great Bridget Jones and The Holiday feel to it.
I had a really fun and enjoyable time reading this very honest and hilarious novel, which almost brought me to tears (so close!). I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading romantic comedies, especially laugh out loud romantic comedies.
Moderate: Death, Infertility, Miscarriage, Abortion, and Pregnancy
