This one was absolutely gut-wrenching!! What Lisa goes through in the first half of the book is horrifying, and more than a little hard to read. The second half is full of revenge, some shocking twists, and an absolutely satisfying ending!

Note: This review is for people that are comfortable with extreme situations. If you're not comfortable with this type of content, this title isn't for you. 

I had a lot of mixed feelings after finishing this book. The plot is compelling at times and McCluskey finds ways to keep you glued to the story. However, it was hard to accept the motivations from some of the characters, as well as the need for such extreme measures for their reactions. There was also a major POV change halfway through the book that, to me, undermined some of the themes of the story. 

I also read the Kindle version which had some grammatical errors that knocked my rating down a bit.

Overall, if you're into extreme horror, you will find something enjoyable. However, if you are looking to enter the realm of extreme horror, I would start with a different title.

Whoa. What a dark ride. The character development is strong, as is the plot. The middle of this book is really difficult to get through. Probably the hardest thing I've ever finished. But after reading the entire book, I understand why it needs to be so brutal. This turned out to be a great read even if extremely challenging.

I was definitely not expecting to like this so much, you get drawn in immediately. There are some major trigger warnings so definitely check those before going in. That plot twist at the end, I did NOT see coming!
