Aww. This was great. Delightfully great.
____________
Original appearance on blog.

The adjective that springs to mind regarding Yearbook is UNIQUE.

The writing was so unique. I don't think I have read such an original YA. I loved the setting of the novel.

The narration was unique. Lester was quite a refreshing character to read from.

The plot based around the yearbook was delightful. Lester's obsession with Milton, and the Ramones. It was hilarious.

Absentee father, overworked mother, neglected rebellious daughter, finding his way son, minimal familial interaction, close knit friend circle, all were similar tropes but they were dealt with in such an intriguing manner. I truly enjoyed reading it all.

The angst of the teenagers depicted here. The angst of our protagonist it was utterly prolific.

I felt for Lester in such a manner I never thought I would. I didn't even think I would like this novel. But I was astounded by it.

I enjoyed it quite a lot.
