Alisse's character was flaky and inconsistent. She was an astrophysicist/scientist but talked and talked and behaved stupidly and irrationally. She broke up with her boyfriend because he couldn't give her a BDSM relationship. She wanted and gave her consent to a "pet" relationship with Lukanos. Contrarily, she fought his control and resisted submitting to him.
There was no D/s relationship development. Most of the BDSM was off page. There was no romantic relationship either.
There was too much telling. Also, there was no world building.
