i really tried to love this. but honestly… nothing really happens plot-wise and the story is very dragged on. the characters, although endearing, felt sort of… flat. i was exhausted by the end of the book because i kept hoping it’d improve and surprise me based off the relatively high praise and reviews i glimpsed at, but it never happened for me.

The primary conflicts were classic miscommunication but not in a frustrating way, more so in a manner that made me want to keep reading to see them resolve it, and it never dragged on for too long. It was slow to start but by the end I was really invested in the characters. The best friend of one of the main characters was incredibly annoying, but I listened to the audio book, and that might be influenced by the narrator’s interpretation. It had a good amount of smut, and interspersed at good intervals. Overall, I liked it!

This started out strong but I disliked the main characters by the end of the audiobook...

Charlotte should've communicated clearly with Sutton when she was being blackmailed basically, and Sutton was being unreasonable because Charlotte was very clear on expectations when they started their relationship.

Also, Sutton needs to grow a backbone because her wanting to abandon her Rome internship was dumb.

Also, Charlotte's brother being a cop... Hate that.

Such a cute book! It had really great romantic tension with a great friends-to-lovers arc. The characters were loveable, yet complex, and the story had me rooting not just for their romance but also for them in their careers. A very fun book to read. Kind of an odd ending though, so that's why I knocked it down a bit. It was a great story, but it lacked that 5-star feeling.
