I initially rated this 4.5 stars, but thinking back a week I cannot recall any reason why I didn't give it 5. So updating accordingly.

This short story has an intriguing world or forest guardians and wights with lovely characters. The young ranger and ancient guardian are great together. Most of the story is told by Koster's POV, but there are one time snippets throughout the story from several POVs of the villagers and even the guardian himself. It's a bit unusual choice which initially threw me off a bit, but it actually suits the story rather well.

Wildwood tells so much in so few pages. Of course I would read a whole novel or even series about these characters or the world in general, but this is a fantastic finished story already as it is. After reading [b:Integrate|25259393|Integrate|Thea Hayworth|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1427843924l/25259393._SX50_.jpg|44981918] and this one I can easily say I'm a fan and will probably read anything from the author.
