The most important things I learned from this book: You need to appreciate what you have. And stop living like you need to, but how you want to!
Lidia is my comfort charecter.
I recommend this book! You need to read this.

Rating up to a 4 from a 3 because I love the concept and it's a sweet read. Sometimes a bit more saccharine, and I found the language some of the teens used to be very very very not believable. But overall, a good story with a good message.

DONT READ THIS IF YOU DONT WANT SPOILERS PLEASE :)!

This book is about 2 characters Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio. They receive an alert from Death-Cast telling them that they’re going to die that day. I was recommended the book a lot on book tok and needed a popular LGBTQ+ book to read :). When I finished the book, I felt sad because of course, they both died at the end, but I though the story was beautiful even if I didn’t really enjoy the writing style of the author. After I finished the book, I went to look for reviews of the book and I saw some things I agreed with and things I disagreed with. Some people hate this book with a passion. I only agree with them on the writing style. A lot of people love this book though, which I also do. The story is so beautiful and it made me happy and also sad. Before reading this book, I started to read This Is Why They Hate Us by the same author and I could not finish that book. I might go back to it, but I couldn’t read any more. The writing style once again was not my cup of tea. Since I had already started a book by the same author that I didn’t like at all, I came into it with the expectation that I might not like it. Although the story was very good and I do like this book. My first thoughts after finishing this book was “wow, I love them.” I think that was it. Truly I do love the characters in this book. This book was recommended to me through book tok but specifically well liked LGBTQ+ books. Ive been reading a lot of them this year. It met my expectations, but it could’ve been better. I heard some great things about this book and it looked very interesting.
The trope in this book was unique and it stood out from what I was reading before. I think it handled it well. I liked the story in the book, it was one that made me happy, but also sad at the end of course. When I think of it I’ll definitely look back on it fondly.
Although the storyline was great, the writing was very fanfic-ish and like a 40 year old was trying to write stereotypical teenagers. Which was something I didn’t like very much. The love at the end felt kind of forced, and I wish there was more of it in the story. It was sudden and only was there for a hot second at the end. I would’ve loved to see hints of them falling for each other throughout the book.

I needed a break from thrillers but I didn't expect to get my heart broken like this. I could not put this book down, the build was so good and you really got a chance to fall in love with the characters. I always love a good LGBTQ romance but wow it didn't have to be so sad. The ending was rushed and I do wish there was more. This did leave me a bit on edge, because life really is so short.

Very YA, but if you're a crier, this one is going to get you.
