Cover:
Appears to be professionally done, looks good and completely relevant to the plot and characters.

Formatting:
Beautiful. This book is easy on the eyes and looks quite like it was a labor of love.

Characters:
Brilliant. Really complex. Clearly a lot of thought went into the creation of these characters, but I almost feel like "thought" isn't right. They are so well done that they just are. No continuity issues surrounding these characters. Denny is to the core, a good guy who has been through some hard times. Those hard times seem to have shaped a part of him. Gwendolyn is still recovering from her own hard times, but she isn't letting them shape her. Crawford seems to paint a good picture of who she was before, during and after her abusive relationship and then again while she fights for her life. She seems to come out ahead, despite everything and Denny is there to help her see that. It's all very sweet.

5 stars for character developement here.

The MCs are surrounded by a briliant cast of supporting characters who also seem very consistent. Lots of good people who I'd be honored to know "in real life".

The book:
This is a pretty fast-paced read. Denny can be long-winded but it turns out to be a good way to get to know him and his past. He's kind and adventurous which is fun and maybe a little contagious.
Both he and Gwen remind the reader that life doesn't end at a certain age or doesn't have to end after tragedy and heartache. It might not be the same but you can certainly move forward and still make the best of what you have left.

I think it's really cool - as an aside- that a portion of the proceeds go to the ALA. That's a great cause.
We do get a look at a fictional battle of lung cancer and having worked in Oncology for about 8 years, I found it all pretty accurate.

Overall it flows very well and I came to find myself completely rooting, not just for the MCs, but everyone else involved.
Cannot wait to delve more into the rest of this series... it's good people.
