I understand this is an older book, but I really didn't care for a lot of the language used to describe people. The term fat was used a lot in a negative way on a admittedly awful person. It was really harsh in particular to the female characters. I liked Hamish overall as a character, but probably not enough to read the whole series. Maybe I'll try a later book in the series.
The narrator was alright, but he really struggled with the american parts. Sounded robotic almost.

I thought I’d enjoy this satirical cosy mystery, but it’s so full of casual misogyny, fatphobia and classism, it might be better left in the past.

Der Dorfpolizist MacBeth überrascht mit seiner gelassenen, selbstlosen Highlander Manier. Mal ein ganz anderer Kriminalroman.

A super fun little mystery, just wish there was less problematic comments and name calling

The book has an interesting structure.
The murder is not the beginning of the story, it happens smack in the middle.
We get to know the main character, the title character, through the lens of other characters first.

Incredibly misogynist, you would hope the mystery would be good enough to distract you but nope
