Liked the premise, and the book started off well, but the last quarter seemed scattered-as if tthey realized how much of the story they had left to tell and wanted to squeeze it all into a set number of pages.

i stand by the ratings when i say that i liked it. its not the most amazing thing that I've read but it is something that i would suggest to people. i don't really know what to say about it other than it was a good read but its not something that i would lose sleep over just to finish.
(not to mention its a really short book, but that's besides the point) i like the characters and the plot line is really interesting but it didnt hook me in and keep me there. the detail is somwthing that i can imagine in my head so thats another plus, but its not OH MY GOD I MUST FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!! its a trilogy so i am curious to see what happens next.
Long story short: It's a good book you should read it if you dont like long books. also if you do like long books its still a good read that is over pretty quick.

I was a bit disappointed with this one. The premise was really good - intriguing, but the writing style was lacking. There were not enough details or good enough character development. The book should have been twice the size - at least - to be really satisfying.

This book was very good. Not as good as other dystopian books that I have red but it was still a great read. I need to get the second book now!

This was a very interesting book! The authors pair a futuristic society with slaves (clones) with slavery from American history. But it is more of a history repeating itself story. I really hope this is not a stand alone book, and that there will be a follow up!

I was initially drawn in by the idea, which was great and had so much potential. Of course, the finished product doesn’t always amount to potential. I easily guessed the plot. When Leanna was surprised and stunned about something she just discovered I was thinking what! You didn’t already know that? I've been guessing that the whole book! The writing is beginner and I could’ve easily written it, which is saying a lot. The worse part to me, though, was that it seemed like it was trying to teach a lesson. Don’t get me wrong- I am one hundred and ten percent against slavery- but when it comes to books I read for entertainment , I don’t want to feel like I’m in school(I already spend like 8 hours in school every day, and don’t need anymore!). It was a good idea but it feels almost as if they put TOO much research into this.

Although sci-fi, this book would fit in with a text set on slavery or civil rights. It includes a fair amount of history within the futuristic story of a "treasonous" organization fighting for the civil rights of clones. Great story, though the ending left me feeling slightly unsatisfied -- I'll have to read the next in the series and hope that wraps things up a little better for me.

An excellent idea but poorly executed. I was reading an uncorrected proof, but the whole book would have to be re-written in order to receive more stars.

The characters were not well defined. It does have a bit of action, but it also had some boring stuff and for such a short book it's missed opportunity. I found myself skimming parts, if I skim it means I'm bored and not really enjoying. I won't be continuing with the rest of the books. The courtroom scene was so boring and long. ☹️

one of my biggest pet peeves in books is when authors use excessive exclamation marks, and this was unfortunately the case in the clone codes.

the best part of this book is the race commentary and the inclusion of science fiction in race. i can't exactly put a finger on what makes this book more of an okay read for me, just that it's not the best writing and leanna is very young and naive. i found myself getting very frustrated with her and her quick judgments of other people.
