I would write a review, but it would be
- 33,33333 % gushing
- 33,33333% swooning
- 33,33333 swearing fealty and undying love to Ilona & Gordon,

so I will spare you.

I will only use some keywords like awesome, fun, conmen/women, spies, politics, crazy family, adorable racoons & cool wyverns. It offers thrill, chase, excitement, laughter, heartache & happiness in abundance.

Go and find out the rest for yourselves, if you haven't read this book/series. It's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo worth it.

Not as good as the Kate Daniel series, nor as good as earlier books in this series, but I still hugely enjoyed and devoured this book.

The pacing of this one threw me off. The beginning was full of info-dump, which I never understand, because by book three 99% of the readers will know all this stuff already. I always tend to view info-dumping in the third book in a series as unnecessary and skim material.

Once the book got into gear, I was much more pleased. I enjoy Kaldar a great deal, and having George and Jack along for the ride was a lot of fun. I also appreciated that William and Cerise played a larger role in this book than Declan and Rose did in the second. It felt like the world, and the families, were more cohesive.

I enjoyed Audrey as a heroine a great deal, but I do still prefer Cerise. That doesn't say anything negatively about Audrey, however. She has a good head on her shoulders. She just seemed more reactionary to the plot than active.

The end seemed to wrap up awfully fast, though, considering the dance of romance and danger they had been going through. The book's pace, as I mentioned, was odd: the beginning seemed to take several chapters, the middle the entire rest of the book but for the final fifteen or twenty pages, which was the climax and the end. I just wanted that to be more fleshed out, personally.

4.5* Grade A

Fantastic, and at times surprisingly humorous, fantasy/PNR novel. A great addition to the series.

Kaldar is a wonderful hero, and the witty, clever relationship between him and Audrey is worth the read even if the book had no other redeeming qualities. But, thankfully, the book does have many other qualities that make this a recommended read for anyone who enjoys fantasy, urban fantasy, or PNR. The writing is excellent and the plot is convoluted and wonderfully detailed.

This book misses 5* because I personally am tired of series that use the same villains over and over. Readers met The Hand in Bayou Moon and they are evil! I didn't so much mind them in this book, but I was disappointed when the set-up for the next book seems to guarantee we'll be dealing with them again. The problem is, even when the plot is new and exciting, which this one was, there is a sameness to the book when the motivations and personalities of the villains are already a given. The political situation is identical, and the tactics are similar. Even when the individuals are quite different, there is a sameness to their single-minded viciousness. The unique "gifts" of the individual operatives are interesting, but they really aren't different from each other in any other way. A surprise would be a Hand operative with a conscience.

Other than that, however, the series is incredible and I will definitely be eagerly awaiting #4.

Not as good as the first two but I loved it all the same. Loved getting to see more of George and Jack too! I hope they're in the next book also

Kaldar Mar is an irresistible archetype for me - charming, a joker, and a schemer. Great stuff.

I like the Edge books nearly as much as the Kate Daniels series, but I didn't really care for the main couple in this book. Jack, the young lynx changeling, was really the star of this book in my opinion. I think that his and George's story was more interesting than the main story of trying to retrieve the stolen object. The boys are young, but hopefully we get a book about the lynx and the necromancer.
