"I'm your number one fan."

I've only read this and IT by Stephen King so far and neither disappointed. Annie Wilkes saves the writer Paul Sheldon from a nasty car crash. But, taking it upon herself to nurse him back to health instead of driving him to the hospital raises alarm bells. But it's so much worse than Paul expected.

I can't wait to get my hands on more King. He truly is the master. I saw the film adaptation of this, which was well done, but the book easily topped it by a mile. Absolutely incredible.

I finally understand why they call him “the king of horror”. Bone chilling, disturbing, terrifying. Such an interesting take on “suffering for art”, and human ability to inflict pain while justifying it with some type of noble cause. I wasn’t a big fan of representation of mental illness, but I have to admit, that part of the story aside, everything else was so unique and extremely uncomfortable, just like I love it in my horror. And Annie Wilkes might’ve just become my most favorite book villain.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A book that I loved, an absolute must read, and now a favorite of mine. It’s a book that will live on my shelves forever and I would re-read in the future. I would pick up anything else by this author without question. This book is now one of my all-time favorites.

This is the second book I’ve read by Stephen King and I loved them book. I was invested in the characters from the very start. More so Paul than Annie. I rooted for him to come out of his downward spiral of insanity as he was held captive by Annie.

I even got invested in the story within the story. Misery’s story.

I’m very happy that I finally picked this one up. I’m starting to see why King is my husband’s favorite author.
