Didn't really enjoy this book.  It was a bit all over the place. There are some fun concepts here, but for me it left much to be desired in all aspects.

A wonderful coming of age fantasy with a strong female lead character!

The world building and character development in this book is outstanding. This is my first book by author Levi Jacobs and I can honestly say I can't wait to see more in this series as well as checking out his other books. Sometimes the fantasy genre produces books that are so far out there that it's hard to follow, or characters that are flat and uninteresting. In the pages of this book the reader is drawn into a world with characters who are rich and deep and resonate with the reader.

Be prepared to be sucked into an epic adventure that will make it hard to put your book mark in and close the book to get back to the real world. This is one of those books that you pick up at night before bed and say to yourself, "I'll only read one chapter then off to sleep" only to look up at 3am and realize that you will only get 3 hours sleep before having to get up to go to work. And still the struggle will be to put the bookmark in and place it on the nightstand.

Excellent work Levi Jacobs, can't wait to read more!!

Female? First red flag. I find it interesting that a man writes about the sexism and misogony that women face.  Like all the other fantasy books ive seen, the main character is small and tiny. This book would have gotten a higher rating if it didnt feel like a real religion. The world building isnt the best, in the sense of it feels like an idea in the real world brought into the fantasy world. This book is better  than some well known authors books. Its not a series i will continue but i would say that you should give it a try.

Listened to the audiobook, and did enjoy it. The magic system is unique and pretty interesting, I hope the sequels expand on it more. Being a short book, I found the character work a bit lacking and so I didn't become attached to any of them. Same with the world building, I know almost nothing of this world or its people. Criticisms aside, it was a decent read and i will continue the series.

A unique magic system, a battle between power and powerless, and a cry for acceptance.

A nice addition to the YA canon.

Daughter of Flood and Fury is the latest new release from my fellow 2019 SPFBO finalist Levi Jacobs. If you enjoy YA epic fantasy, this is definitely a book for you. It has all the good stuff from that genre - a cool and kick-butt MC, a dangerous enemy, intriguing conspiracies, and a hint of romance. I enjoyed this one from beginning to end, and the pacing was great so that I never got bored. I found the two kinds of magic in this world super interesting - the ability to use water and blood in fascinating (and slightly terrifying) ways. I am definitely looking forward to the release of the next book in the series. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me

The story drew me in enough I had to buy the next book immediately after finishing! Would definitely recommend for fans of Kristin Cashore and Allison Goodman.
