I bought this book so that I can read it to my niece of 6 years old. She loves Hanuman and Lord Shiva.
After seeing some reviews I decided to read my self first. Hanuman have mercy on me, the author butchered the whole Hindu mythology concept. It may be appealing to western Indians who don't care about these but making mockery of Lord Hanuman and calling him an Ape? Yes, he is a monkey god, still it's horrible.
The concept is fantastic though, that is why the 2 stars.

We read this after finishing our study of Classical Tales from India. The kids absolutely loved it. An action packed story with mythology integrated throughout.

I had heard so many good things about this book, and boy howdy...those words did not do it justice!
This book is absolutely amazing - the main character is refreshingly goofy and positive (and snarky to boot!), and the story moves at a rapid pace. Even though much of the mythology was unknown to me, I never felt confused by too much or condescended to by too much explanation - Chokshi does an excellent job of weaving explanations into the narrative so that you can follow along.
Seriously, this book is just great.
