I'm sure it's just the Midwestern girl in me, and the proximity of the story setting to where I live, but I really enjoyed the apt descriptions of the small town and the region. The story was well paced and Virgil is quite likable. I have the feeling I am really going to enjoy this series.

Too much filler without any action. Skipped many pages to just get to the dialogue and actual important information. Blech!

I always have loved the Lucas Davenport books, so assumed I would like this one. Especially since it is based in my neck of the woods in SW Minnesota. But I am really struggling with this one. Just not getting into it. Will give it a little more time before I say the heck with it and put it back on the shelf and find something better.

Eventually it picked up and made me want to keep reading. An unexpected ending. I just may end up picking up the next one in the series.

Another reread, feeling nostalgic maybe, maybe just pining for a good action-mystery. It's kind of funny to read this back-to-back with Davenport's introductory book, the similarities are striking. And they both have mad dogs (maddog).

I really like this series, need to get back to reading it. When I look over my notes they remind me how much I loved this book.
