Although advertised as a short story, THE BODY IN THE BOOKSELLER'S is more of a novella (or novelette) length work. As in past tales, the modus operandi of Veley and Elliott is to put forth the mystery from more than one point of view. In this adventure, Dr. Watson and Lucy James Kelly are our storytellers.

Once again, Holmes and Watson have been summoned by Mycroft Holmes to solve a crime of national security… dare I say, worldwide security? Holmes and Watson, and Lucy and Jack find themselves pitted against a slippery bunch of possible spies and murderers who seem to have little actual connection to one another. This one seems to be not so elementary.

As I work my way through this series, I always find myself looking forward to the next mystery to be solved by Sherlock Holmes and company.

Fun and quick read! Long enough to develop characters to a point in which I cared for them. Short enough to keep a perfect pace. I loved reading from two different perspectives (Watson and Lucy). I did find some grammatical errors but they weren't a big deal where I would only give 4 stars. Will definitely be reading more of this series.

1899. Holmes and Watson are called in by Mycroft to investigate because a packet has been stolen from a diplomatic courier. As their investigation proceeds people are soon attacked, but then a body is discovered. Can Holmes and friends solve the case.
Another enjoyable and well-written Victorian mystery i this series, with its group of likeable characters.
