This book reveals more of the plotting between The Hooded One and the Lord of the Locusts, and follows the inhabitants of the valley as they pick up the pieces after the attacks by the Rat Creature army.

I took that from the description, but it basically says all there is to say. The longer I read this, the more sure I become that I would not have continued reading if I had to wait for the installments. The difference in the material between book 1 and this one is worlds. I love where the story is going, but I would not have seen it and if I had been expected to wait months or years between...I wouldn't have.

Not the most interesting volume so far. In fact, the more serious Bone becomes the harder it is for me to take it seriously.

I'll explain it all at a later point at this rate, I feel like talking about every single volume is not working when this is like a long Disney movie. Imagine stopping every 20 minutes to make a point on what your thoughts are so far... just not a great look, is it?

I want to talk about the messy characterization and the dry worldbuilding, and the way the plot has gotten into the much more preferable humor of the first volumes... but let's do that when I'm done instead.

I'll just say, I didn't care about most of this volume despite falling under the "decent" category, and the twist with the twins is... an explanation, but lacking in richer foreshadowing.

I'm not feeling crazy about Bone, but the charm of its first chapters is not entirely lost.

This was a filler book for the main events I feel like. It led up to the end and the rest of the series, but there wasn't much that happened.
