I like Miles Morales as a character. But I was not particularly impressed with this one. Too slow and really didn't go anywhere all that interesting. And ho hum so his dad hates all supers. And Miles has to sneak out of his dorm room. It's not bad. It just not all that good either. And the alternate world has to do a lot more for me to be interested and stay interested.

A good, solid series thus far. Miles Morales makes a good main character - and thus far, thankfully, there have been no crossovers to ruin my fun.

Oh look it's Uncle Aaron. He's being played as more straightforward evil then I was hoping for last volume -- I thought he held some affection for Miles? Because he treats him in such awful unacceptable ways this volume, like that's your twelve year old nephew, are you serious? I'd punch the guy who tried to take advantage of any my nephews or nieces the way Aaron does Miles. :l Well I guess every superhero needs a villain. Good volume, builds nicely on the first one. There's still a bit of confusion with the panel layouts (repeatedly switching between two page and one page layouts without clearly delineating the difference so I end up having to read pages twice when my initial order doesn't make sense) but I have no substantive criticisms otherwise. 4.5 stars

The dynamic between Spider-man and the Prowler is phenomenal. Pick this up!

Cute I guess?? I guess as much as I'm excited about ~diversity in comics~ I'm less invested in 13-year-old Spider-Man? It... pushes my ability to suspend disbelief. Also, I get that Spider-Man has a reputation for cracking wise, but it's kind of awkward that Miles is trying to make jokes but not super great at it? I guess that's what they're going for but it's not my fave.

Also I know it's convention to just collect 6 or 12 comics or w/e but honestly I hate it when a trade ends on a cliffhanger. JUST WAIT. JUST WAIT AND COLLECT THE WHOLE STORY, COMICS INDUSTRY. THAT'S WHY I DON'T READ SINGLE ISSUE COMICS IN THE FIRST PLACE. GRAHHHH

The New Ultimate Spider-Man keeps on swinging on. However after all the excitement and emotion of Volume 1, Vol.2 falls a little flat. It's nice that they introduced a family dynamic to the story but they're playing the secret identity reveal card a little too early
