As far as psychological thrillers go, this has to be among the best (if not THE best) I’ve ever read. It slowly unfolds and you can’t really trust any of the characters because they all thrive on secrets.
It’s a lot slower than many YA novels, so look elsewhere if you want a fast-moving thriller. This one is all about scheming and conniving, moved by the characters’ goals and dark desires to own each other.
While it’s a really good read (and terrifying as far as realistic stories go) it does throw around a lot of mental illnesses and doesn’t really expand on what they are, which doesn’t do any good for real people who might suffer from those illnesses. It’s the reason I didn’t rate it 5 stars.
Great on all other fronts, though, and probably my favourite read this month.
