At first I really loved this book, because the writing style and the concept of the book seemed really unique. I loved the first third of the book, but as the book continued, it just started to feel like the writing style was really hindering it. Despite genuinely having a plot, a lot of it made no logical sense, which was definitely on purpose, but it just made me constantly question what on earth was going on with every page. There was nothing solid that I could "hold on to" while reading. There were no solid settings, solid characters, solid dialogue, everything was just illogical and didn't have much continuity. It kind of felt like when someone is telling you a really dream that they had -- in this case probably a nightmare -- but the dream itself means nothing to you and is so illogical that you can't follow and don't particularly care about the ending. That's what this book felt like, and by the end of it I didn't feel like I knew what I had even read because there was nothing that followed the boundaries of reality. I'm sure that this was partially on purpose, and if that's the case then it really was masterfully done, but it was not really my cup of tea.

If Pynchon and Barth had written a Simpsons episode together. Funny and profound, before it got repetitive. Repetitive before it got weird.

I was enjoying the existential dilemmas until the last few chapters. It felt like the author lost focus when the nuns came in. Without the nuns, would’ve given this a four.

The power of the dead is that we think they see us all the time. The dead have a presence. Is there a level of energy composed solely of the dead? They are also in the ground, of course, asleep and crumbling. Perhaps we are what they dream.
May the days be aimless. Let the seasons drift. Do not advance the action according to plan.
