The prose of this novel is absolutely stunning - Saint weaves narrative in the same enchanting way that Madeline Miller does in The Song of Achilles, a style I'm slowly becoming convinced belongs to retellings of Greek mythos alone. At no point did I feel that the drive of the book lulled, and I plowed through it with reckless abandon. It is a gorgeous study of the women of mythology, of the character of gods and heroes and those that are dragged along in their path. The way Saint puts together both Ariadne and Phaedra's points of view, the clashes and similarities both starkly on display, is masterfully done - I am surprised for it to be her debut novel.
