Rescuing Casey by Susan Stoker

Easily one of my favorite couples AND stories from this series! The beginning did remind me of one or two other Stoker novels, rescuing a woman from being kidnapped in the jungle, but it’s unique enough to not put me off.

I do think that the romance in the beginning was rushed. Beatle falls in love with Casey before he even meets her, which I didn’t like. I could understand being intrigued, but not to have already fallen.

The villain and the action was so unique though that I will remember this book for a long time!

Not as good as the other books in this series. A lot of it felt rushed. The author also used all the same "quirky" phrases said by other characters even though they were raised in a different area of the country

This is a wonderful mix of romance, adventure, action, steam and suspense. It's a little slow burn, not in terms of chemistry and desire but the shear fact that Casey and Troy/Beatle are trying to escape the jungle.

I really liked both characters, they were believable and felt very natural in their speech, thoughts and actions. Their chemistry was hot and there is plenty of heat in the book but not too much to spoil the story.

The pace is good, the book held my attention, and the writing style is easy to read and engaging. There are some good plot twists and, although I've only read one other book in the series, I did feel as though I got to know most of the secondary characters.

This can be read as a standalone but it's good enough to make me want to catch up on the other guy's stories!

This is the first Delta Force Hero book that I've read and I honestly have to say it won't be the last. I was engrossed in the world Susan Stoker made right from the beginning and even though this is the 7th book in the series I wasn't lost jumping in at this point.
Let me see if I can help any other potential readers out there, like myself, make the decision to dive right in and enjoy the series at any point and then go back and pick up Stoker's previous books because I know you will want to get to know all the hot, alpha men in books 1-6 just like I do.

The book begins right in the depth of Casey's kidnapping. She's been shoved into a hole in the ground, in Costa Rica, with no hope of rescue. She does everything her big brother, Aspen "Blade" Carlisle, ever taught her to survive if this situation ever presented itself. The ironic thing is, Casey Shea (they have different fathers, giving them different last names) never once imagined it happening. She's nobody. At least nobody important. She's an entomologist, a bug professor, currently in Costa Rica researching bugs with three students from her class. Even with everything Blade has taught her on survival Casey knows her time is running out if she doesn't find a way out soon.

"She liked Beatle. A lot. He could tease her all he wanted. It made her feel normal. Not like she was a kidnapping victim escaping from the scene of her confinement."

Troy "Beatle" Lennon has always known deep down that Casey was special. Working with Blade he'd heard stories, but it was more than that, he just knew that once he met her in person it would hard to turn off what he was feeling. He never said anything due to the distance separating them, but now that she was in danger he could no longer keep his feelings at bay. Call it karma or years of training, but Beatle was the one to find Casey and pull her out of deep hole she'd almost died in. From that point on he refused to leave her side. She was his and he was hers.

"Beatle froze at the sight of Casey Shea smiling up at him. At him. Right then, in the middle of the godforsaken jungle, smack dab in the midst of a rescue op, Beatle fell head over heels in love."

Finding Casey was the easy part, leaving the jungle alive is another feat they must tackle together. Is what they are feeling part of the adrenaline rush? Will they both feel the same if they make it out alive? If they finally find the kidnapper, how will their lives work when Casey lives in Florida and Beatle lives in Texas?

"It was scarier this time because she knew exactly what was in store for her if she was recaptured."

I never once felt like I was missing part of the story. There was plenty of involvement from the other Delta Force Heroes and their women along with a few teasers for future stories to come on the heroes that haven't found love yet. The action was realistic and never rushed. I will definitely read another Susan Stoker book in my future.

Great book and Some major surprises at the end

With Rescuing Casey we are almost out of team members to find their soul mates. But with Casey you'll finally know Beatle's real name and why he's earned his nickname. But mostly you'll either like bugs or not (Not a big fan of them) and also get to catch up with the women who love their Delta Force heroes.

When Blade's sister Casey Shea is kidnapped with 3 of her students in Costa Rica, Ghost and the team are called in for a rescue to find them and get the women home safely. But something not right and it will take everything they have to get Casey home again. But when the Delta's are denied going into Costa Rica for the rescue because one of the girls is Danish will the delay mean that Casey's life is in jeopardy? Can Troy "Beatle" deny his attraction to Casey and will Blade be good with his team mate dating his sister?

How does Troy "Beatle" Lennon explain to his teammate and Casey's brother Blade (Love his real name) that he fell in love with her picture? But his "radar" is telling him and Truck that something isn't right with the kidnapping, lack of ransom and now Casey's colleague seems to know more than she should. Will Beatle be able to convince Casey to stay in Texas instead of going back to Florida? Always trust your feelings that something isn't right because while staying with Fletch, Emily and Annie they will come back to finish the job started in the jungle.

I can't wait for the next 3 books that were teasers at the end especially long overdue Truck and Mary's story.

No cliffhanger, standalone military romance. No graphic sex but there is violence.

Casey and her students are captured and held hostage for unknown reasons. Luckily, there is a high profile person in her group that is missed right away. Help descends but no one knows what happened to Casey. She's stuck in a hole in the middle of the jungle and left to die.

Troy and the rest of his team, including Casey's brother are bound and determined to find Casey. It's impossible, but with luck and intuition, they find her. This story starts out harsh, but when the romance starts then it lightens up some. It feels weird to have a romance bud in the middle of a high tension situation, but it happens. And then they go home...

I guess the romance that happens back in the states is a little too cut and dried but the ending is fantastic. The suspense part comes to the reader in a flash of "Oh, no! She didn't!!" It was great.

Well, the insta-love was real in this one. Although I'll admit it was done pretty well, all things considered. The fact that Beatle saw Casey's picture and fell in love is the type of story that's been seen and told a lot, but I liked the fact that while it only took him about half a second, he still learned about Casey before deciding he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

Beatle was actually great. I loved how he tried to let Casey take things slow but also didn't quite coddle her. He acknowledged she'd been through hell and everything but he never held any of her actions against her; he just talked to her and held her as needed.

Casey was tough, I'll admit that. But I rolled my eyes at the number of times she started to acknowledge she had feelings for Beatle and then she'd roll it back because "he's only doing this because of adrenaline; there's no way he'd actually like me because I'm sweat and gross and smell like jungle". Even after getting back to Texas where Beatle made it clear 5000 times that his feelings/declarations were true and he wasn't leaving, she'd still go "but it was the jungle" and stop herself from saying something that would make her look "weak".

I did like getting to see the other couples and how things are going for them. I want to get to Truck and Mary's book ASAP though because I need to see their story!!

Like Rescuing Bryn , the villain felt a little out of nowhere. Unlike RB though, at least this villains motives half made sense and weren't a random Taliban connection. Although this villain was bat-shit crazy, that's for sure. I do wonder how they expected things to turn out if Casey hadn't been rescued. Based on the things that happened at the end, Casey's information was actually needed so that step was a little weird. And there was a comment about "high and might Dr. Shea brought low" that felt like it came out of nowhere. Granted, the villain was crazy so who knows, but yeah.

The blurb made me want to read this and I thought the premise was so interesting. I am not usually super big on insta-love, but imagining someone seeing a picture and just having a conviction to want to know the the other person and having to then go rescue them idk, it just called to me.

I liked Beatle and I really liked Casey. I thought they were a good match and I thought Casey was very capable. This book was a better balance of romance and suspense than my previous reads from this author. It had tropes I enjoy in a romantic suspense like being on the run and one partner taking care of the other yet I didn't think the book was intense by any means. Stoker's books are pretty low stress, but there was some moments that were kind of cheesy or too unbelievable and took me out of the story.

The reason this didn't get a higher rating from me was the villain and their motive. It was too unbelievable and dramatic and was giving lifetime movie. Overall still enjoyable but the last quarter could have used some improvements.
