Fantastic book. I started reading it to my baby as a bedtime story (she is not old enough to mind the darker plot points) but it was so good that I stopped reading it out loud and just devoured it. Amazing characters. The best kind of humour and tone. There’s a top notch dog. Amazing.

This is such a fast and absorbing read. I love how the author blends fairy tale elements to make a new original story. This book feels like a grown-up version of the princess stories I loved as a child (books by Gail Carson Levine & Shannon Hale), and it will stick with me for some time to come.

Read for a book club, and was so happy to get sucked in to the story when reading has been hard for me this year. The side characters were the best part, along with Kingfisher's penchant for exploring the mundane everyday parts of life in her fantasy stories.

Audiobook was GREAT, Amara Jasper did a fantastic job.

I'm a bit too in my feelings to properly review this but I loved it.
I cried when bone dog died and I cried when they brought him back, what a good boy

Amara Jasper did such a fantastic job narrating this, I specifically decided to listen to the audiobook instead of getting the ebook because of the sample, and it was an excellent decision
