Slow start but very good read. I appreciate the oddness of this author's work.

T. Kingfisher’s writing reminds me of Neil Gaiman! Also, the demon possessed chicken was amazing.

bone dog is the best dog

i mean every character in this ragtag bunch is just *chef's kiss*. Marra doing impossible tasks but terrified of asking for directions is very relatable

Almost DNF'ed this, but at about 30% in, it got so good, I didn't want to put it down, and I ended up loving it.

I read for enjoyment, so I don't consider myself the type of reader who could smartly dissect the prose or structure, but if I had 3 wishes for this book, they would be:

1) a faster "build" at the beginning
2) a deeper dive into how dust women get their power
3) more information on godmother's power types

It felt like it started so slowly, and things later in the book were kind of glossed over.

Still though, it was a great book, in my opinion, and I look forward to reading more from this author for sure.

I really, really loved how magic and the like were described in this book.
