My first thoughts - Wow, Rome is a giant asshole. His personality really doesn’t seem redeemable. Extremely unlikeable. It’s not standard enemies to lovers where there’s a misunderstanding or they meet when one of them has a really bad day. Probably going to DNF.

The rest of the book - Totally normal, not at all enemies to lovers book. I don’t know why Quinn felt the need to make Rome unlikable at first, when the rest of the book clearly explains his character as a ruthless workaholic, though not heartless or mildly sexually harassing.  He’s likable, as if the first chapter never happened.

I didn’t lower the rating for the beginning, though it didn’t help. The lower rating is because, other than work ethic and sexual attraction, we learn nothing about either main character. They’re very one dimensional.

Rome’s character is, at times, hilarious, and the audiobook narrator does a FANTASTIC job with him. He really brings out the humor in Rome’s frustration, and had me smiling or laughing most of the time.
