“I’m momentarily distracted by his jawline. Or maybe it’s the cheekbones. They’re defined, angular in a way that makes me wish I had a protractor in my pocket.”
Below Zero is one of the STEMinist novellas by Ali Hazelwood. After reading Love Hypothesis and giving it a whopping 5 ⭐️, I knew I had to read this. I am obsessed with Norway and the cover alone had me sold.
The beginning was a bit wordy, but it read like a young college girl nervous rambling, so it was more endearing than annoying. Like our beloved Olive, Hannah is nerdy, just in a different way, but I loved it. She’s obsessed with NASA and is in school finishing up her degree when she has to interview someone with her dream job. Lo and behold, Ian, mcdreamy, also a nerdy guy. These two are a match made on Mars, but Hannah is emotionally unavailable.
Am I in love with Ian? Yeah, I think I am. This is a super short novella and I am honestly really sad that this wasn’t its own full fledged book! The nerdy-ness of Ian was cringey and hilarious. I was dying when he was comparing her to locations on mars while exploring her.
