I feel like this book did not give me as much as I expected. The ending was unnecessarily stretched and even though I adored the characters (especially the mother-daughter-relationship and the dynamic between Audre and Shane), the plot somehow seemed incomplete…?

Yet, this novel is breathtaking, funny and reflective while dealing with the power of love, coping with your past demons and tackling todays racism. Beautifully written and gorgeous characters with hell of a trauma. I especially enjoyed the fragility of Evas and Shanes relationship: a honest reflection of reality.

All in all: read this book y’all. It’s pretty good.

A little spicy, a little sweet, this book is a brilliant love story. It focuses on two broken people and their journey to loving themselves and one another completely. I loved the characters, I loved the way the author including many present-day pop culture references and allusions, I loved the ending.

This book was a masterpiece of fiction…aside from a rushed final act this book had everything I wanted: the emotions, the complicated family dynamics, the questions of self, and the angst in love found between two complicated leads.

Seven Days in June is a heavy journey into childhood trauma, grief, addiction and love that grows from desperation -- but that works to evolve into something more sustainable and "adult".

This is definitely not a light-hearted read and, while it does focus on the romance, I wouldn't necessarily classify this as strictly a romance.

The mother-child relationship between the MC and her daughter made me quite uncomfortable, though the unhealthy dynamic was sort of addressed. The daughter's character, overall, felt really unbelievable. The mother's parenting approach was often very controlling and I can guarantee that no 12 year old is gonna be that graceful with a parent when that level of control is present. Especially when they have such a trusting relationship.

I think there is really good representation of disability, and esp invisible disability, and addiction, and the realities of living with that.

Overall, this is a good book, which has a lot of potential to be great, but I felt it fell short on some of the themes that were explored in the book - especially generational trauma and single parenting while dating. I liked it but really wanted it to be more.
