I liked this book. I can relate to young Yuri, jumping ahead of everyone your age and then trying to play catch up at life (not sure I can relate to the whole trying to save the world part however).
What I find unbelievable though is how... calm everyone is when faced with the apocalypse. Life going on, kids going to school... I expect chaos and lots of church going lol.
Fine. They regular people dont understand the magnitude of the situation but the US government doesnt even try to evacuate anyone? (before they find out about the extinction level event)

I only managed to get about a third of the way through this book. The idea of a 17-yo physicist working to stop a meteor was a fun idea, but the first 100 pages of this book were hard to get through. If you're looking for a good end-of-the-world story focusing on a 17-yo boy, check out Andrew Smith's Grasshopper Jungle.

I loved this story--so funny and real and sensitive, perfectly balanced with tense, end-of-the-world stress and angsty teen worries. Now this is a damn good asteroid book.

This is the worst freaking ending I have read in ages. I am literaly reeling right now. UGH, so angry.
The book itself was not bad. Like an YA version of the Martian, but worse.
Yuri was a fairly fun character but Dovie was a bit all over the place. Their romance lacked chemistry of any kind.
As for the problems with the book;
- Since when is it normal for random people to go to random schools and attend classes as if they belong there?
- Still not clear why they even had him in the US in the first place, didn't seem like they really needed him.
- If you saw someone trying to commit suicide would you be making a joke about it to them 10 minutes later?
- I am sorry, how did a freaking genius not think that it might be a better idea to go to a Russian embassy in the US rather than try to cross a freaking border without papers?
- All of this pales in comparison with the stupid/stupid/stupid ending.

This book was phenomenal. I really loved the main character, and the storyline. It touched upon a lot of complicated topics, too. It's very clear that the author has put in a lot of time and experience for what she was writing. I now want to devour everything else written by Katie Kennedy.
