I think Svevo must have realized this book was to long. The beginning and the end were much stronger than the rest, both conceptually and on a more micro level. I really liked the first section of this and would recommend treating it like a short story. Too bad other portions (the business section in particular) were such a slog.
I don't understand why many people find this book remarkable. I'm calling bullshit.

Svevo's narcissistic narrator is reliably endearing if a little irritating - this is a light, entertaining work that keeps you engaged even as very little happens - Zeno's ridiculous patterns of logic are ever entertaining

Ставлю 4 не тому, що мені книжка сподобалася на 4 зірки, але тому що після обговорення в книжковому клубі я зрозуміла, чому ця книжка вважається класикою. Читалося важко і повільно, доводилося бувально продиратися через роздуми головного героя і нажаль до кінця книжки не стає краще, тобто це абсолютно вимучене читання. Але те, як майстерно описаний головний герой, його anti-hero ego, його контроверсійні вчинки та думки - це просто щось дуже унікальне і майстерне і хоча я хотіла кинути читання, мені все ж було цікаво, до яких роздумів дойде головний герой в кінці книги.
До речі я придбала книжку у Фоліо за 30 гривень, уявляєте? :) Навіть у твердій палітурці!
