This was terrifying and horrid. The only reason I picked it up is because my goddaughter’s school is putting it on as a play next month, and I wanted to read it first. This is the kind of thing nightmares are made of.

An SK classic, full of suspense and horror, so I can't complain. His ideas and stories are always fantastic in the world of horror, even if it did include those SK ever-present features that I dislike (i.e. racism which is always unnecessary & adds nothing to the plot, minor mention of rape, rambling, bad jokes).

Those features plus the fact that it got a bit slow in the middle, so it took me awhile to get through, stop me from giving it a 4 - but once it picked up, it really picked up. I forgive the slowness a bit, because it did help you get in the mindset of what it was like for the main character day by day.

I don't know know what to say. It was gruesome. It was disgusting. It was miserable. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Definitely a good Halloween read.

This was such a disturbing book and even though I'd only seen a few clips of the movie I knew if was going to be a terrifying read which did not disappoint. Its clear that Annie is a deeply troubled women but i never expected the extent that she was and the amount of murders she committed. Paul himself was far from perfect however no one should be subjected to the torture he sustained with the amputation of his foot the tipping point in a very long list. The book was such an uncomfortable read as I really don't like scary movies. I was waiting for a clear ending but im still unsure what the true ending was.
