I didn't enjoy this book. I think this is partly due to that I expected a different story based on the synopsis but also partly due to the execution. I think it is a very slow start. I was bored throughout the whole book and debated on DNFing multiple times, but somehow I did want to know what would happen next.

The characters are very flat. The most interesting part to me was the ending but it did not impress me or truly horrify me. The writing was repetetive.

The writing style of this book is ART.

Didn't get that much into the plot for the first half (was good but just not as good as the writing stlye) but the second part was just amazing.

The suspense is amazing, I was tensed reading the whole book.
the end though - I was not prepared for it to be this sad. I also do wonder, is there gonna be a sequel? I really enjoyed Tyler's character development, he deserves better

Evil evil evil. This book is so evil. Yes, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed reading from the confused, loyal, and empathetic perspective of Iris, especially when in contrast to her sharp, dangerous older sister, Grey. I heavily enjoyed the mystery of this book and liked how the author didn't try to pull one over on the audience, but rather delivered on the clues that she was setting up. I wish this book was longer and that both Tyler and Vivi had more central roles in the story, though it was nice to see how Vivi had changed in the end. Definitely the happiest ending we could have gotten, but the hopeful part of me was still left feeling a bit deflated. The horror-lover in me adored this story though, for all its gruesome parts.
RIP to Tyler, you were a fun character I wasn't expecting to love. Also I wonder if there is going to be second book because I can definitely see that happening with the interesting romantic tension between Iris and Tyler. Why didn't he pull away? How can she bring him back?
Definitely read if you have a sister and/or love the macabre. Excellent body horror, but be warned: you will be disgusted.

I really enjoyed this book. Debated on whether to rate it a 4.75 or 5, but decided to round up because of how quickly it hooked me. I usually do not gravitate towards horror, but the dark fairytale-ish way this book incorporated it drew me in.

A lot of imagery in the book is beautiful, disturbing, and haunting all at once. Not enough to give me nightmares, but enough to linger with me. I wish we knew more about what happened after the end of the book, as there feels like some unanswered questions, however it feels complete enough to work as a standalone.
