I think this book covers good topics on grief, guilt, trauma, and different types of family. However, it is so slow-paced and character built it drug by too long and I lost interest.

I enjoyed this book over all. It has a HEA. The characters were well developed. Sometimes Emery was too perfect that it felt over done and unrealistic. The positive mental health speeches felt a little preachy and over done. Emery’s parents were over the top. I guess people like them do exist but it was very much an extreme. Some of the twists were easily guessed but still were nice to read. Despite these critiques the story was sweet and the love story didn’t feel rushed. I enjoyed it, recommend it, and will read this author again.

It was also my first love story with PoC. I feel embarrassed to admit that but honestly I just don’t come across books that have PoCs as leads often. Part of me also wondered if I would relate/connect the same as books with white leads. (Also embarrassed to admit.) I am happy to report I could connect and relate and I still got my HEA ending. So if you’re hesitant about branching out, do it! You will not regret it and it’ll just make your world bigger and more beautiful.

This book tour a chunk out of my heart the entire time I was reading it I was either in tears or I was just happy. It was beautifully written and I think it was here when I really needed it. To say that this book is going onto my comfort List is an understatement because this book is if not the best book I ever read and it’s my top one.
