This one snuck up on me! I downloaded it via Audible (included with my subscription) on a lark, not knowing what to expect. It's smart, sexy, and the mystery was pretty compelling too!

Still in the RG well but I am thinking I have almost climbed up and out of it. I've got to focus on some other TBR books and change up the genre a bit. Only so many "she is so perfect and beautiful, all mine, and the one for me" reads I can do in row. Don't get me wrong - I will always come back to these types of stories. RG books fit the bill for fast, easy reads for sure. Entertained enough to keep reading through her library...just not all at once I suppose.

About an author who writes murder mystery books and a detective trying to find a serial killer he thinks might be her.

I absolutely loved this book. A little romance, a little spice, a little suspense, a little police procedural. I feel like it was the perfect mix of everything I enjoy. Also, the audiobook narration made it even better. The humor mixed in with the intensity was just perfect.

3.5 stars.

This book was a bit too cheesy for me. But if you don’t mind all the cheese, it’s a decent read. Quinn and Lucy are the definition of insta-love and they rather easily overcome a dishonest start.

The romance was just a bit too unrealistic for my liking and they aren’t my favourite couple. I didn’t think the character development was up to par either. While I was into the story (it’s an easy book to get into), I just didn’t fully connect with the characters.

I’ve read other books by Gibson years ago and I remembered being easily captivated and enjoying the books (which is why I stocked up on them and they have been sitting on my shelf while I found new loves). These books are easy reads and easy to pick up and get into right away, but this one’s romance, story, and characters didn’t do it for me.

"And yeah he had taken things a little far but she hadn't exactly complained, she had gotten off - he hadn't. If anyone should be pissed off, it was him."

I listened to this on audible.

I actually really enjoyed this story despite the fact that the narration is VERY cringe. I had to skip past all the “spicy” scenes because my secondhand embarrassment couldn’t handle it.

Lucy is a well-known author of murder mystery books. Her friends are also authors and they’ve built a fun little community. Lucy finds most of her material from bad online dates.

Quinn is a undercover cop who is investigating a serial killer. The serial killers MO is very similar to Lucy’s new book. He pursues Lucy because he thinks she’s the serial killer.

They have great chemistry—obviously it gets more serious than “just a job” for them both. They end up solving the serial killer case somewhat together & I was disappointed in who it was. I was hoping it would be one of Lucy’s friends!

All in all I enjoyed it.
