Bumped up my rating from a 4.5 to a 5! I love how dark and twisted this book is. Lark has a very impressive talent for making you root for the bad guy, as much as I should have disliked Cole I couldn't help but hang on to every word in his chapters. Seeing how his mind worked was fascinating and I am so glad that I have access to book 2. I need to see how this is going to end.

This book is dark. Very dark. While there is sexual content, the first half of the book is around power-play, murders, violence, and obviously mentally ill characters. Always check content warnings!

I did like the book. It was odd feeling any sympathy for a sociopathic character but the way they were written does make you wonder why they are the way they are. I'm not sure I like the premise of finding a woman to "save" you and love will fix everything. But it does make for a very engaging story. The sex scenes were not what I'd consider enthusiastic consent, but the characters definitely want to be there other than the one kidnapping scene.

Sophie does it again!
This book is dark like fr look up trigger warnings.
Listen, this is not a fluffy happy romance. This is the MMC will literally murder someone for you or maybe even you. So go in with those expectations. It's toxic. It's dirty, It's dark in the absolute best ways.
I could not put this down, finished it in 24 hours.
This one kept me on my toes the entire time, the smut is next level so good!

This was amazing! I absolutely loved this, it felt like a movie or a show inside my head the whole time. This is darker than I thought it was going to be but I still enjoyed it. This story had me hooked from the beginning to the end. Cole and Mara are so twisted but it's so interesting. Definitely got Joe and Love vibes from "You" lol Throughout the story I feel like Cole's pov was him experiencing emotions for the first time. He loves Mara in his own weird way but he's trying to convince himself otherwise. Mara-she's a case by herself lol. Overall this was great and I can't to read the other part.

‘Because he’s not a soulless monster, whatever he might pretend. I see much more than that inside of him.’ ….And just like that I’m really into this serial killer romance..and strangely attracted to this psychotic serial killer. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series, I need to know what happens!
