Um... it was a book..? I don't really have much to say. I personally didn't enjoy it. But maybe you will.
Cole is a serial killer artist who discovers Mara and he becomes obsessed with her. So there's that.

I liked this book, however, I encourage people to proceed to read with caution. Heed my trigger warning. This book took turns I wasn’t expecting, and I found myself fairly disturbed at the beginning. I also found it hard at first to connect with our male leading character, Cole, as he proved to be no more than an arrogant bastard. However, near the end, he truly seem to have a glow up as he got to know Mara and he began to feel emotions that he hadn’t ever experienced in the past. Overall, I liked this book and I’m excited to read the second one, but I definitely encourage you to do your research before you read it.

I hate it all the more for how rarely it happens.
My anger flares at the girl.
This is her fault. Her fault for defying the fate rushing toward her”

I don’t enjoy reading a lot of smut, but these characters and this plot made me question my kinks in the best way. If someone were to have described this to me prior to reading it, I would have said, “thank you, next,” but having read it for my Smut Club (trying not to DNF another one), I am changed. I want to read the sequel, but I’m extremely anxious about it. To be honest, the ending of this one kind of felt like the author said, “oh, let’s cut this story off now and make the rest into a sequel,” but whatever. I never expect much from smut, so this one caught me off guard. Recommend? Kinda? Trigger warnings, for sure.

Bumped up my rating from a 4.5 to a 5! I love how dark and twisted this book is. Lark has a very impressive talent for making you root for the bad guy, as much as I should have disliked Cole I couldn't help but hang on to every word in his chapters. Seeing how his mind worked was fascinating and I am so glad that I have access to book 2. I need to see how this is going to end.
