Omygod!
I was so tense and so excited in line with the book. Sometimes it was rather predictable what was coming - even though it wasn't always right - but it kept the excitement and tension there in spite of that. I got all the feels through the book, with the characters or for them.
Definitely recommend the series for everybody - especially if you like good fantasy / YA series!

kinda boring. the whole book is looking for new bloods and mare being annoying about her feelings for cal and kinda maven. wasn’t terrible, but 440 pages of searching for new bloods and talking about how she can’t be with cal…

This was a great sequel to the first novel Red Queen. It wasn't as good in my opinion, and moved quite a bit slower, but it was a great story nonetheless. I loved seeing Mare grow as a character and seeing the story progress from the ending of Red Queen. Reading it a second time, I caught on to a lot more things than I did the first time. There are a lot of details that can go unnoticed. I can't wait to reread King's Cage.

Aveyard's writing style is a bit rushed and I feel like I'm trying to catch up as I read. I enjoy the storyline though and I'm looking forward to book three.

SOLID 4.25 STARS!

OK, I will just say this book tore me to pieces. Everything that happened in this book had such a dark undertone to it. Victoria Aveyard definitely did not lessen up the pain factor on any character. I was very suprised to see just how dark some characters became, it is not something I have seen often. Also, Cal, I love you so very much. Mare, be strong. Maven, you are a rodent and an atrocious person. I do NOT understand how people are rooting for Maven, there is nothing redeeming about him. I won't continue on because I do not want to spoil. And can I just say, Victoria Aveyard sure knows how to create a successful cliffhanger. There were some cliche parts, but for the most part it was absolutely fantastic. Definitely go pick up this book if you haven't already.

I do think this is a good sequel to the first book. In saying that, it was difficult to read at points and wasn’t as ‘can’t put down’ as Red Queen. I didn’t like some of the plot points the author took and for being the second book in a series think it could have been portrayed better. But I am intrigued to see how the series continues after what has happened in this book, to see how Mare changes and develops, and hopefully matures after this chaos of a book.
