This series is so binge worthy! Though I have thoroughly loved ever book in this series in some shape or form.
I just wished that she would have delved a little more into how Remy feels when he is black but maybe she does that because he has told us time and time again he doesn't remember what happens when he is black it is just so raw to see how how he feels when he is around his Brooke, the fact that there are times when he even gets jealous of himself.
The love that Katy Evans shows between Remy and Brooke is so RAW and unreal!

I have a complicated relationship with these kind of books: the Hero POV. I mean, I like them, don't get me wrong--I love getting more of a story I like, and I really liked the first book in this series. But I also feel that when you do an "Alt Character POV" story, you've got to give it something a little extra other than just retelling the same events. Katy Evans attempts to do this with the retelling of the same events of the previous books framed by a new story of Remy and Brooke getting married. Great. I liked that a lot. But I still feel it wasn't enough to warrant a whole other book. (Especially since she's selling it as a whole other book--which to me says "This is a completely new story" whereas a novella is more what Remy read like to me.
The problem with retelling a story from another person's perspective is the story sometimes has a tendency to come off flat or insubstantial compared with the original story. I feel like this has to do with how the story's written. I imagine the author has the original story's document open right next to a blank page, and she's just transcribing the dialogue, just with different "he saids/she saids." When a writer does that, I think the story suffers, because it's not as organic as the original storytelling. I understand you need to write the same scene, but in Remy, some of the scenes left me confused. If I hadn't read the previous two books in the series, I would have been so lost. On it's own, this book doesn't do a great job explaining why Remy's in love with Brooke (it comes off as kind of an independent "love at first sight" thing instead of "I actually know this girl and like her"), and even the plot would have left me spinning in confusion if I hadn't read the previous two books and knew the story already.
Like I said, I liked this one because I was a fan of the series in the first place, but I wish Katy Evans had done more with it. I loved hearing Remy's voice (and it read very true to who he was in the first two books), but I wish she had wrote this more as an independent story instead of choosing very discursive scenes from the previous two books and just telling those scenes from a different POV. I wish it flowed better, and had its own storytelling arc instead of relying on the previous two books'.
Bottom line: If you're a fan, read it. If you're new to the series: PLEASE READ THEM IN ORDER OTHERWISE THEY WON'T MAKE MUCH SENSE.

I knew once I started this book I wouldn’t be able to put it down and that’s exactly what happened. Loved it!
REMY was an intense, emotional story and I felt like I was falling in love with him all over again. I understood him even more since everything was from his point of view. That being said, Remy is a man of few words so a part of me excepted his inner dialoged to be a bit more in depth. His devotion and love for Brooke is undeniable, they’re great together and have off the charts chemistry. He and Brooke share some hot scenes and you could seriously feel a build up of sexual tension from Remy.
Even though scenes from REAL and MINE are revisited, I thought the story seemed fresh and not rehashed. The final scenes from the first two books from his POV had me on the edge of my seat, knowing his thoughts made everything more intense and put things in a whole different perspective. I was very heart-in-throat-can’t-read-fast-enough. The majority of this story covers REAL, but I would have liked a bit more from MINE. I wanted to know more about Remy when he and Brooke were apart. I also would have loved to know Remy’s perspective of Brooke and Melanie dressed up at a fight, that would have been awesome from his POV (I thought it was a seriously funny scene!). That might be the selfish part of me though because I can’t seem to get enough.
Knowing Remy’s feelings and emotions made everything so much more heart felt. I swear my own emotions doubled. Watching him fight to stay blue and seeing him change to black was really intense. It’s like you could feel the change in his thoughts within the writing because of the change in him.
This story goes back and forth between present and past, something I really enjoyed. I loved the present day story – I was all, happy happy joy joy! There was a bit at the end that’s from Brooke’s POV and I thought that was a nice addition as well. I also loved Brooke’s gift to Remy. Perfect!
I thought this was a fast paced story, full of emotion, intensity, and sexual chemistry. Even though the speaking dialogue was the same, I found myself just as invested. This book made me love the first two books even more. Remy fought for what he wanted, so much more than I ever could have imagined. Excellent story! I loved it! Loved Remy! I will forever be a fan of author Katy Evans. :-)
