What a delightful and thought provoking book to start 2019 with.

Had to read this for school.

This book was written in the 1950’s so expect some problematic troupes that are hard to swallow. TW: racism and racist language (particularly to black and Indigenous groups.)
Has a lot of elements of white saviorism, and with a dash of “magical black man” troupe.

The whole “man is too stupid to understand” troupe also gets exhausting and like this whole belief that society will crumble because we have become too advanced is like face palm…

I do understand why it was written (especially after WWII and the historical context) so don’t at me. Sometimes shit doesn’t age well (what a surprise) - overall the theme is interesting (mankind dying out).

This had been on my want-to-read list for a long time and once upon a time I had a paperback copy, but never read it. A very enjoyable listen, that passed all too quickly. The breadth of the story told is impressive. Classic Sci-fi!

honestly not a fan, i rarely skip pages in books and i had to here because this science fiction just goes everywhere and i don’t find the info relevant to make an interesting plot... and i don’t find it credible personally so it’s hard to relate to anything
