Aw, just what I needed. A cute contemporary romance novel from Kasie West.
I would have read this in March if there weren't other two huge march releases I wanted to read first.
But I'm happy this was my first read of the month!

Kasie West has such a nice way of handling stories about teens. There is always na artistic passion, some family issue, some cute romance. And they all mix up together so well.
This time we meet Hadley, a girl that loves swimming and takes it very seriously. And when someone dressed as Heath Hall, this famous actor, decides to disrupt her race, finding out who he is becomes a priority in her book.

Spoiler I was so thrown off guard this time with what would happen. I reall thought DJ was Heath Hall, but I still wanted her to end up with Jackson anyway. But it was actually a bunch of people. It was hadled in a great way! And I'm so happy she and Jackson got together, I was scared she would get with DJ or that she was going to friendzone Jackson because, apparently, he reminded her parents of her brother.

This was great, it became another five stars from Kasie. I'm kind of finding this pattern with my reading experience with her books. She usually has 2 books out every year, and if one year both reads aren't as good as I thought they would be, the next year I enjoy both reads a lot. So I'm guessing whatever other book she also publishes this year, I'm probably going to like it!

A book which I picked up from a LFL and really enjoyed. Loved the mystery and romance. Mystery was definitely not something I expected especially by the cover but it was really good and I never saw it coming!

I am worried Kasie West has lost her touch.

As always, Kasie West wrote a fantastic, adorable, fluffy story. Hadley had such a great growth arc, and the Heath Hall mystery kept me on my toes the entire book. The ending still surprised me honestly.

It was well crafted with many unique and memorable characters, and the message was important and well delivered.

UGH I AM SO CONFLICTED ABOUT THIS ONE.

On the one hand, I really liked Hadley. I felt that she experienced some real character development throughout the book, and there was one scene near the end that made me tear up. I always love the family dynamics Kasie West creates! Sometimes I wanted to slap her parents b/c they were basically forcing her to live in the shadow of her dead brother, who she never even met. That being said, I think one thing I really appreciated about this book was how well it dealt with grief and the reality of losing a child.

The plot was simultaneously both hit-and-miss for me. I was semi-intrigued to find out the identity of Heath Hall (and admittedly, it wasn't who I suspected, so that was a nice surprise).

I think the hardest part about this one was, I did not like the romance aspect at all. I literally forgot the love interest's name mere hours after finishing. And the cute, quirky Kasie West romances are always the parts I crave the most.

*sigh* Kasie West has always been one of my favorite authors, but I am struggling with her newest books! I will keep my hopes up for the future!
