This book is a little more juvenile than I was expecting. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t hold my attention particularly well. The ebook edition I read also had several typos but that’s not an issue with the writing. I can’t tell if his other books are considered YA or not but I will try another of them and see what I think.

Fun book. Should be suitable for children and middle grades. Probably acceptable for readers as young as 7 years old.

This book is pretty poorly written. The characters are one dimensional, the dialogue is flat, and the descriptions are unclear. As an independent publication, it even has typesetting errors. But I still enjoyed the story. It’s a good execution of the classic YA hero’s journey. It’d make a good movie. I wouldn’t recommend it, but I’m glad I read it.
