A cosy, spooky book perfect for the vibe I was looking for.

I was bothered by the weird retconning with Charles, his ex-wife, and her phantom pregnancy which is now suddenly real? I know Beaton writes a lot of books but it would be nice if we could have some consistency.

It's not a bad book, just not particularly engaging.

It's a quick and easy read, and the mystery is clever. Maybe it's because I watched the TV show first and fell in love with that version of Agatha Raisin. This Agatha isn't as funny or enjoyable as the TV version. There's a brief encounter with a haunted house, but it doesn’t really play a significant role in the story.

I liked it, didn't love it.

Agatha Raisin and the Haunted House by M.C. Beaton

I love the Agatha Raisin series and this one is no exception. They're great easy reads with brilliant characters, especially the titular Agatha Raisin. The plots are excellent and I never normally work out who the culprit is.

This is the first Agatha Raisin novel that I have rated below 3 stars. She was so preoccupied with men, that the amateur detective could barely solve the case. I rolled my eyes so many times at her romantic fixation on her handsome "barely married" neighbor. Usually I like Agatha's personality, but this time she got on my nerves. The mystery itself was predictable, so this novel was a complete let down for me.

I really liked this one. I listened to the audio, I just can't get enough of Penelope Keith's voice :)

A jolly little caper, with a haunted house at the heart - although it actually isn't that heavy on the haunted house bit, and that is kind of in the background for a lot of it.

Family feuds, village gossip, amateur dramatics and the usual frosty Agatha Raisin.

Recommended for fans of Raisin and cosy murder mysteries.

The internal monologues are perfectly timed, well-placed, and quite comical. Fun read. A bit radical, but super fun.
