I was scared, angry, and incredibly anxious while reading this book. It, of course, begins with a break-in. You can tell that from the summary. But what unfolded on the pages was so much more than I thought it was going to be. Told from the perspective of the mother, you witness an intruder in their house and all the events that come before and AFTER. I was not prepared for the after. It keeps you on your toes for the entire 350+ pages. And reading as a new mom? Don't you dare keep my kids from me. I will do whatever it takes.

Wow this book was amazing! I could NOT put it down. I stayed up late & got up early to finish it! I questioned the outcome the whole time and just really enjoyed reading this. Highly recommend!

Might bump to 5! This is a fast read and is definitely best read in only one or two sittings

This was deeply disappointing and unsatisfying. An attempt at a slow burn psychological thriller, but not well executed. Instead of feeling resonance with the female/mother plight, I felt like the author just constantly beat the topic over and over like a dead horse. It just felt so excessive and overdone and gave the book an annoying and whiny feeling rather than a feminine urge to take the patriarchy down.

The male characters were so incredibly one dimensional that it was comical. Even the female main character was unlikeable at best. I found her annoying and toxic.

No characters had names, just descriptions, which was an interesting choice, but I’m not sure what value it added… or if it did at all.
