This book follows a publicist named Harper Brown, who recently moved from London to Paris. It follows her everyday life and work schedule, until she is thrusted into a few crazy situations as she pursues leads of a murderer, that ends in a massive finale.

This book is a slow burner. Half-way through it kept me wondering how this was all going to add up in the end, however the author cleverly added little details through the first half of the book, for them all to come to a thrilling and un-suspecting ending.

Although this book didn’t become a page turner until the second half, it definitely wasn’t something I could put down in the end! Perfect book to read on a lazy Sunday, all in one sitting!

I have not read a book quite like how this has been written, after finishing it, it is a nice change to leisurely read until you get into the face paced action. I would recommend this book as a starter to anyone wanting to get into psychological thriller/suspense fiction books, and as a lover of Pip’s other books, the ending follows suit in being extravagant and surprising!

Good but Pip Drysdale’S The Sunday Girl is better. Loved this until the end which to be honest was a little confusing. But loved the style, characters and story.

Very suspenseful and intriguing. Would be a great movie. Lots of feelings and self talk to get through tough times.

First of all, many thanks to @simonschusterca for this ARC, out May 28th, 2024!

I really loved this book! It really satisfied my craving for escapism, I loved the arts scene and the dark side of Parisian glamour.

Here’s the premise:

Budding journalist, Harper Brown, moves to Paris from London to take a position with an English online magazine called The Paris Observer. Her encounter with the enigmatic artist Noah X, whom she’s writing a story on, sets the stage for a romance tinged with complications.

Harper is such a cool character, she’s strong and feisty and a bit of a mess. She has the eye of an artist and the perspective of a social media maven. But she really wants the crime column instead of the Arts column, that’s where her heart lies.

She’s landed herself into a too close for comfort situation when a young woman is found murdered, and Harper is one of the last people to see her alive. But to Harper, this is the story that might just land her that crime column job.

She’s willing to do anything to get the scoop on the when, where, what, why and how, even putting herself in danger.

I thought that the modern references, from Instagram filters to hashtag culture, added so much realism to the storyline. There’s romance and suspense and plenty of twists and turns.

This one has definitely landed on my “will gladly recommend” list!
