Really good, but a lot of sanist language that kind of dragged it down, in my opinion.

Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues
White Trash Zombie, Book 2

I Picked Up This Book Because: #Scarathlon / continue the series.

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: Audible
Dates Read: 10/21/23 - 10/23/23
Stars: 4
Narrator(s): Allison McLemore

The Characters:

Angel Crawford
Marcus, Ed

The Story:

I kind of adore Angel and this series. The way Angel stands her ground and is determined to get her life together is inspiring. The Mystery in this one is captivating. The resolution is a bit convoluted but it’s a zombie book, who is looking for facts?

The Random Thoughts:

First thought when finished: (Let me steal a line from the book) "Zombie Super Powers, activate, you fucking bitches" :)

Quick Review: Diana Rowland hit it out of the park again with Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues! I love how far Angel has come since book 1. She is one smart, tough cookie who is just beginning to understand just how many people she truly has in her corner! How her friends rally around her during the story was probably my favorite part! Plus, her fighting to better herself and her dad was so enduring. I loved how she acknowledged that he had a tougher road to clean than she had. I was disappointed with Marcus in this addition but can I just say that his uncle is a really interesting character who I hope shows up in the rest of the series. I know that he isn't that likable but I can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve. In other words, I need the 3rd book now and I don't even think it is on the horizon yet. Though I heard a rumor that she got a 3 more books deal--I hope that is true!

Final Thoughts: If you loved the first one then this one will be a hit for you too! I mean how can it not with lines like this: "Yeah, well I ate his brain." I leaned back and laced my fingers behind my head. "Motherfucker shot me. I couldn't let that shit slide."

I picked this up to distract me from crappy stuff going on in my life and I was not disappointed. I started the series after reading a good review from the fantasy and social justice blog, "Fangs for the Fantasy". The sequel is even better than I remembered the first being. The protagonist has grown so much in two books, but not in a way that felt forced. There was a subtle class analysis throughout the story that I feel really worked well. I can't wait to read the next book. Lovers of zombie protagonists won't be disappointed in this series. More brains!!!

Good character development in this second installment and an exciting plot line to boot!
I love that we see Angel continue to make good choices and draw the right conclusions when it comes to what is morally right and right for her.

So many times we see books in a series rehash a damaged character's self defeating behavior and that is definitely not the case here.

Looking forward to more in the WTZ series, I think there is a lot of good potential here and so does Angel!

Weird, funny, well-written, and I'm still so entertained a white trash zombie.

I'm considering Angel Crawford my personal hero for the time being.

(I'll write a review at some point.)

Re-read, 2020:

I guess this is the "some point".
I still love these books and the re-read made appreciate the characters more. Ed Quinn is absolutely amazing in book 2, which is not something I thought on my first go. I don't like Marcus as much, though.
All in all, it's an amazing book that everyone should be reading.

Not a long review, but a short what I thought about it.

I was kind of worried about this book, while the first book still left a whole lot open for more books, I wasn't sure if it would be ok or if I would like it.

It turns out, I didn't need to worry, the book was just awesomeness.
Angel is once again, a really kick-ass zombie. Marcus... well I wish he would stop being so worried and always making decisions for Angel. Angel doesn't need a babysitter, she just wants a cute boyfriend who she can trust and who trusts her in return.

It was also a very exciting book, lots happened, we got mafia, new zombies, conspiracies, death and so much more! I flew through this book, it was really an amazing ride, and unlike the first > second book, I couldn't wait to read the third one.

I will be sure to read the rest of the books too, whenever they come out, and I really hope many will still be written.

Overall, I loved that it was a mix of Urban Fantasy, Thriller and Mystery. I did like the first more, but this was great as well.

Onto the next one!!
