Not THAT is how you write a wholesome and great ending hook. Was gonna give this 3.5 stars but I'm adding another half for that alone.

"The Legend of Podkin One-Ear" by Kieran Larwood is a delightful children's book that tells the story of a young rabbit named Podkin, who becomes a hero in a world filled with danger and magic. When his warren is attacked by the evil Gorm, Podkin must go on a quest to find the magical dagger that can defeat them and save his people.

Larwood's writing style is engaging and imaginative, creating a fully-realized world filled with talking animals and ancient myths. The characters are charming and relatable, with Podkin being a brave and resourceful protagonist who learns important lessons about leadership and courage.

The plot is well-crafted, with plenty of action and suspense to keep young readers engaged. The story is full of heart and is a perfect balance of humor and seriousness, making it an excellent choice for children who love adventure stories.

One of the highlights of the book is the beautiful illustrations by David Wyatt, which bring the story to life and add to the overall charm of the book.

Overall, "The Legend of Podkin One-Ear" is a wonderful book that is sure to captivate children and adults alike. Larwood's storytelling is masterful, and the characters are lovable and memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun and exciting adventure story for young readers.

Well paced, with good characterisation and a clear storyline. A nice start to a series with some very neat twists. The narrator’s comments on the role of storyteller brought a smile and the horror/peril elements are exceptionally well handled.

A saga set within the five realms where the snow is knee-deep and cold iron is an enemy to all. The Legend of Podkin One-Ear sees Kieran Larwood weave a realm rich in imagined-history where rabbits rule and storytellers are kings. We have here a thumping story bursting at the seams with pace and humour, hardships and fear - a great classroom read aloud as much as it is one to be curled up under your bed’s blankets.....read more here.
