This one follows the beginnings of heartbreaking events our FMC Rooke experience that lays the foundation for the upcoming novel.

You have witches, faes, goblins, elves, and other magical creatures. Loved this novella prequel and it makes me so excited for the main book and the world we’ll explore.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Obsessed!

This is my first J Bree book and I’m an instant fan!
The Scepter has me hooked and begging for more. If you love a fantasy world with the perfect amount suspense, mystery, and intrigue you need to read this novella!!

Can’t wait for The Crown of Oaths and Curses release in March.

“Someday, Rooke, if the Fates decide that you have a mate out there, you might hear him in your mind. It's a very old sort of magic, very powerful, but you are the Maiden of the Ravenswyrd witches. Someday, when I become the Crone and you take on the mantle of the Mother, you will channel a lot of power. I won't be surprised if the Fates grant you a mate and not just a life partner.”

Welp, sign me up and color me intrigued. I wasn’t a fan of Broken Bonds but this book is right up my alley! I’m so excited to see where the story goes from here. Especially after that ending!!

This was an interesting intro as a prequel to the series. I’m interested to see the PNR aspect of the fae and witches.
Lowkey first thought was what kind of name is the full name for Rooke as the FMC!? But I guess if she is a witch growing up in the forest, it would be a fitting name for her.
I also hope Pemba doesn’t keep sticking to Rooke as if they’re attached to the hip. That will get old real quick to me.

I didn't know anything about J. Bree's new series before going into this prequel novella and I am surprised to find out it is about both witches and fae. This was a fast-paced, emotional start to a series I am so excited to read.

I am obsessed with the use of a novella to introduce the main characters back story and start world building leading up to the release of The Crown of Oaths and Curses! I’m sucked into Rooke’s story and I can’t wait to read more
